James River Basin Partnership PSA

PSAs are almost without fail the worst portions of any television schedule.  They are peopled by horrible overactors with trite or ill-delivered messages.  Most are produced locally by a second- or third-rate production company for next to nothing, and this is reflected in the quality of the results.

The James River Basin Partnership PSA was a collaborative project.  During one of my course classes in the Spring of 2006, the JRBP came to the instructor and asked to form a sort of competition: the class would split into 3 teams and each one would produce a PSA with the goal to raise water resource awareness in the area.  The winner would get air time on the area syndicate stations.  My group consisted of Dalton Jones and Rob Rosener (audio), John Schwartz (3D animation) and yours truly filling in all the gaps as 2D animator and editor. Our goal was to produce a PSA that was visually eye-catching and would present a general message to our audiences on water conservation and awareness.  Specifically, we wanted no voiceovers (because they suck) and wanted strictly motion graphics and ambient music to bring the message.  You can view the results above in the 15, 30, and 60 second edits below.
