That's exactly why I use the premium service of Pinboard.in. Whenever you save a bookmark, they store a copy of that page and all its content. If the site or page ever goes away, you still have a full copy of it. The internet is unreliable for permanent information.

Thanks! As far as I'm aware, all ordering is done via the drag-and-drop interface in the widgets area of the WordPress admin. Width and Height settings on a per-widget basis are in the realm of CSS styling, unless you need specific classes or IDs, in which case you should probably look at more in-depth code changes for widget output.

Very great and useful post! It works fine, but how can i set the property of any widget such as width, height, position and other? It's possible to modify all that?
Thanks for sharing, i save this post to delicious

@Brett
Facebook is in the black and worth billions... built on a free model. Don't put the blame-eggs all in one basket.

@Ryan
Great post. I faced that wall with delicious facing the end and hopped over to diigo (only because they, too, allow export/import of my data).

Your points raised are worth considering, not only as a user, but as a service provider. This is valuable dialogue for any SaaS developer, no matter what your pricing model may be.

That would be fantastic! I'd be interested to know what their user base numbers are, and maybe their growth rate.

I'm about to write a similar post, focusing, however, on how useful the three sites are for authors who want to engage with their readers (since good writers are also avid readers). As of today's date (May 14, 2010), I've had no trouble getting user numbers for GoodReads (3.4 million) and Library Thing (1 million). But for Shelfari? Not a clue. I'm going to call them on Monday to see if I can prise the info out of them - because I need to be able to advise the authors I represent where to best invest their social media time. Will let you know if I get an answer.
